Sound and picture are a model of Operator, not Operator itself. B shakes A a little at a fixed depth (B's Level −12 dB, held steady), so the tone never changes: only A's envelope, the loudness, does. The graph under Operator is the level you hear, drawn from the same numbers as the sound, on a time axis in seconds; the key is held for 2.5 seconds unless the step says otherwise. Operator's own display is not drawn to a time scale, so how wide each stage looks there is my guess, matched to where Live draws 1.00 s and 400 ms. Heights on Operator's display are linear here; Live's own vertical scale may differ. Initial and Peak stay at −∞ and 0 dB, so Attack always rises from silence to full. The picture of Operator is a screenshot of Ableton Live, used for teaching. Ableton, Live and Operator are trademarks of Ableton AG.
